Kiss Me Please

Updated: Jan 14

Kissing, sucking face, tonsil hockey, necking, smooching, making out… No matter how you reference it, kissing is a beautiful and sensual act. I love kissing. When I was younger, I'd jump at the opportunity to suck face with a hot guy. I liked the vulnerability I felt. I loved seeing the other party squirm and long for more. I used to use kissing as a way to entice the recipient. My goal was to make sure I leave them thinking about me. Yum.

“You should be kissed, and often, and by someone that knows how.” - Rhett Butler. There is a ton of truth in that statement. The act of kissing not only feels amazing but actually is beneficial to your health. The full body release that comes from feeling the warmth of your partner’s lips against yours can make you weak in the knees. The eye gazing and flirting that birth a great make out session is electrifying. The feelings it evokes, the gateways that it opens, the levels of intimacy that can be achieved are amazing and when this skill / artform can be mastered, all your flowers will bloom.

There is scientific evidence that supports the fact that kissing is actually great for your health. When you engage it the act of kissing your brain sends powerful messages to your body and in response your body responds by doing a number of fascinating things. It is a proven fact that the act of kissing is known to stimulate the release of Oxytocin. Oxytocin is produced in the hypothalamus and is secreted into the bloodstream by the posterior pituitary gland. When Oxytocin is released into the bloodstream it can produce a variety of different effects such as reduced blood pressure, decrease in cortisol levels, and decreased feelings of stress just to name a few.

Kissing is also known to stimulate the body to release Serotonin and Dopamine. These are powerful neurotransmitters. They can affect mood, thinking and behavior. When these neurotransmitters are released, it affects the central nervous system and in turn can affect the ability to feel pleasure that can be compared to a natural high and euphoria. The production of happy juices and the benefits kissing can have on your mood are complex and amazing. When you really put it into perspective the powerful effects are phenomenal, fun, and energy releasing.

Psychologically kissing can create feelings of arousal and increase the feelings of trust and happiness. It can make you feel more attached and attracted to your partner and assist with bonding, commitment and initiating connection. Kissing can positively increase your self-esteem and initiate feelings of peace and safety. The benefits of kissing and the positive effects on the psyche, soul, and mind are unbelievable. The benefits are endless.

The act of kissing itself comes in all types of pretty packages as well. It can be soft and gentle or an erotic, sensual and carnal act. The increased release of feel-good juices makes the lip-to-lip contact more intense. Tongues, wet and rolling around and inside each other’s mouths is as hot as it gets. The different ways to be kissed are endless. There are the tender kisses. These feel so good and embracing. Soft gentle bursts of connection letting the recipient know that they recognize their presence and appreciate them. It’s like a warm blanket on a cold day. If you swing in the other direction, there are the hot and heavy kisses. The ones that are like two carnivorous animals fighting for their next meal. Those kisses can include pulling hair, tilting of the head, kissing the neck up to the mouth. This is ridiculously sexy, hot and heavy. The variety of different ways to kiss and how to be kissed is a whole other blog in itself…Standby.

In conclusion, consider this a reminder to go lock lips. Jump at the opportunity to release wonderful natural feel-good chemicals into your bodies. Partake in the gifts that kissing holds. There are a number of physical, psychological, and emotional benefits that both parties get to experience. It's a beautiful gift and if you can find someone who knows how to do it correctly…it can be hypnotizing. Have fun my friends.
